MDIET

About the Project
Sustainability
Sustainability means meeting the needs of the present generation without compromising the quality and availability of resources for future generations. In today’s world, sustainability is a crucial concept as it promotes responsible and efficient use of resources, ensuring their accessibility for generations to come. This requires us to consider the long-term impacts of our actions on the environment, society, and the economy.
Our Cultural Heritage
The Mdiet project aims to increase the popularity of the Mediterranean diet as a part of our cultural heritage among young people, with the goal of combating climate change. The project will educate youth about their carbon and water footprints, encouraging sustainable resource use and consumption. By promoting changes in dietary habits, it actively engages young people in reducing their environmental impact. As a result, young people will be empowered to adopt sustainable eating practices and become environmentally conscious citizens committed to contributing to solutions.
Training Guide
A comprehensive Training Guide will be developed for youth workers and youth organizations as part of the Mdiet project. This guide will share best practices related to sustainable nutrition and provide practical tips and resources for educating young people about the environmental impacts of their food choices. It will emphasize the importance of promoting local and seasonal food consumption, reducing food waste, and supporting sustainable agricultural practices, empowering youth to make informed and sustainable nutrition decisions.
Results
Young people will acquire knowledge about healthy eating for their own health and for the health of the planet.
When we equip youth workers and organizations with knowledge about sustainable nutrition, they will be able to effectively engage young people in conversations about sustainable eating and encourage them to take action within their communities.
The project website, where all project materials are easily accessible, serves as a resource featuring Mdiet recipes inspired by the idea of “Eat Like Your Grandmother,” YouTube videos, and interviews with nutrition experts. It offers practical tips for integrating the Mdiet-style diet into daily life.
Target Group
Target Group 1: Young people aged between 18 and 25.
Target Group 2: Youth workers who will professionally develop themselves in sustainable nutrition practices aimed at combating climate change.
Target Group 3: A database of stakeholders was created during the preparation phase to include interest groups that will directly or indirectly benefit from the project results and their use. Contact information of individuals from these groups was collected to facilitate engagement and participation.
